The Last 30 Days

Greetings to the lovely interworld. It is a la-la-lovely day today! I actually did something! I am feeling so much better as well. Went to the doctor, they gave me some medicine, and now I'm on the way to getting  better. I almost died during band... because turns out when your ears want to explode, exposing them to loud, exciting, high velocity and beautiful music will hurt. A lot.

But really, dying in band was nothing! Today is such a beautiful day! I fixed my wonderful straw fedora, I made it through the day with only a sweater, scootering was good, and I've got a concert to look forward to tonight! Today. Is. A. GREAT. Day!!!

And today is the last day of my 30 day blog challenge.

Post a picture of yourself today, and 3 good things that have happened in the last 30 days.

How about that garage? I forgot how lovely it is.

3 good things!
♥ The warm sun came back to Utah
♥ We closed on my new house
♥ I got to spend a lot of time with my favorite people

February was a great month. The last 30 days were great days. And now I've got a habit of blogging regularly!

Also my buddies gave me half of a small mini donut in school today. Because we're girls. And girls don't eat an entire mini donut! That's GROSS. No I did not come home from school and try and scrape all of the chocolate off of a mini snickers bar just to see what it looked like naked. I take that back. I didn't want to see it naked... I mean. I. Uh. No. What. Ergh. SNICKERS BARS CAN'T BE NAKED!

What were your favorite parts of the last 30 days?

2.28.2011

Kshshk.

Pain meds are my home boy. Just kidding. I usually delay taking medication until I'm on my death bed. And.... I was sitting in bed. And I felt like I was dying! But now everything is dandy. My right ear just can't handle me speaking. Or moving. Other wise it's all "KKKKSHHHHHSHSHSHHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHKKKKKKK I'M GONNA MAKE IT SOUND LIKE THERE'S AN EARTHQUAKE IN YOUR BRAIN!!!! SHSHSHSHKKKKKK"

I'm kinda worried. I didn't know my ear could talk.

So I'm not going to school today. Because I'm silly. Yes that's the only reason why. Because I'm silly. Oh gracious.... yeah see, this is why I don't take pain meds often. I took a single vicodin the entire duration of my wisdom teeth removal healing or whatever it's called. I felt soooo cool that they put me on vicodin. That's what House takes.

Missing school because that requires me to speak, and remember, "KKKKKSSHSHSHSKKSKSKSK SPEAK SPEAK TALK TALK!!! SKSKSKCKKSSKHHHHKS!"

Now. I'm supposed to talk about something I never get tired of doing. But before that, I want to say!

You GUYS! This is my second to last day of this thing! I don't know how I feel about that! I'm kinda sad... kinda excited.... and kinda don't care about it... you know? What do you think?

This was a big... ok semi big... ok normal size... ok not even normal, but pretty small part of my life for 30 days! But never the less it was part of my life. And now it's gone. I think I'll do something celebratory. But maybe more celebratory like a funeral. That's a terrible thing to say. I'm talking about the luncheon after the funeral.

Stop judging me.

What could I do every day?

Actually I don't think I could do anything every day. Except.... be me... I guess.... but for most activities I get tired of them pretty fast. But then something becomes a part of my life like school or taking care of myself, or maybe some day owning a bunny, and I could do that every day. Just because it's a part of me, you know?

This is a picture of me and my best friends being just... us :)

So yeah that's pretty boring. I hope you enjoyed my talk about my ears. So. Yeah.

Go away now.

2.27.2011

Two in One!

Do you remember that one time on Friday night were I was all "Lawl. I think I'm getting sick." Please take note of the fact that "think" is a very important word in that sentence. I went to bed just with a sore throat and a little tired. I woke up ever 2 hours that night, interrupting my alternating good and then scary and then good dreams.

When I finally dragged myself out of bed, I noticed that I had just dragged myself out of bed. That doesn't usually happen. Usually I hop or bound out of bed! This time I dragged myself.

I took a shower, whimpering for most of the time, because the water didn't want to stay a steady temperature. I'd get it nice and warm, and all the sudden the pressure dropped and it was freezing. And my body ached all over.

After many minutes of frustration, I finally gave up and went to do my hair. I had a date in 2 hours. And I was freezing, aching, shaking all over, eventually crying. Called my parents, asked for advice, they told me to cancel and reschedule, so I did, then I spent the rest of the day sitting in my living room on the couch with a billion blankets and the space heater turned full blast on me. I got up... like... 3 times. Once to fill up my water bottle, once when my home teachers came over to give me a blessing, and once to go back to my room and go to bed.

The day was spent reading letters, watching old episodes of the Office, and finishing off the day by watching Dan in Real Life.

So yeah. I'm sick. I don't usually do this. It's generally an annoying cold, not a full blown pathetic fest where I can't do anything for myself. Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but I was afraid of electronic words, for some reason they make me feel worse when I'm sick.

To make up for it, I'll cover 2 days in this post! YAY!

First: Post a picture of yourself from a year ago, and say how you have changed since then.

I've changed in a lot of ways. I'll just make a list of 10 or something.

1- I'm no longer sitting in a train.
2- I now live in SLC
3- I know lots more about magic tricks (I'm sorry... I meant ILLUSIONS.)
4- I've met some of my best friends ever.
5- I don't get to see my very VERY best friends every day anymore. I used to...
6- In this picture I didn't feel like someone beat me up with a bat. Right now I do.
7- I am now fully aware of the joys of Dr. Pepper chapstick.
8- I get to do things for myself now.
9- I have learned what classes work well for me, and what ones hate me more than... something that hates something else a lot.
10- I own my own set of keys. And haven't lost a single one! Weird, right?

Ok. So before I move on to day two, I read my ibuprofen bottle, and it told me not to take more than 6 a day. And I know that there is no way I'm going to make it through the day like that.... is it ok for me to take more than 6 a day? Like maybe double that? I need my lortab..... MOM!! I NEED MY LORTAB!

I'm not a druggy. I swear. I hate medicine. Ask anyone. But my brain is trying to escape through my neck right now, it feels like.

Day 2: What is your favorite movie?

Alright. That is completely and utterly unfair. You want me to pick one?! Because I love all of them! I love Dan in Real Life, I love Ghost Town, I love Sherlock Holmes! There are so many good movies in the world....

But you know... there's one movie that I particularly and secretly (Ok... not so secretly maybe) love more than any movie, and that is UP.

I.

Love.

UP.

So much. Maybe I'll watch that today. I love Pixar always, but then they came out with this one. It seems so different than the rest! I don't really know why... maybe it's because it makes everyone cry? That could be it! It's so sweet and happy, while making you feel so sad at the same time. I just love this movie.

So yeah. I hope you don't get sick! Have a good Sunday my friends!

2.25.2011

So you know where I'm coming from.

Hellloo everyone. Feeling a little sick. Because I'm getting a little sick. Feeling like I ate way too much candy. Because I ate too much candy. Feeling a little tired. Actually I'm really tired. So much to do... so little time.

I'm gonna write this post in 4 minutes so that it says I did it on time or whatever. Sorry if it's incoherent. Because I'm feeing incoherent.

Where have you been? That's not the exact question, but that's how I remember it.

I've been to Utah. Idaho. Wyoming. Montana for a few seconds. Nevada. Arizona. California. Illinois. Indiana. And every state that an airplane flies over to get from Utah to Chicago. Or whatever... Midway. Yeah that's it.

Does flying over a state count as being there?

2.24.2011

What's in your wallet?

I was a bit nervous today... It's the 24th! Remember how I had to read a sample of my writing to my honors class today? Well I did. I read the swimming essay.

I kinda tested the class before with some humor to see how they were feeling, and to see how they'd react to my essay... but it all went over well. So, good, right? Yeah I think so. Maybe I should read what they wrote on the notes to me hmm... ok.

Favorite feedback from written annon notes:

* This is funny, your personality shines forth with magnificent splendor. It is like lookng at the sun, while sinking into the depths of an out door pool.

*Dead person and HIS family... what if it was a girl?!

*It sounded a little bit not human.

*It probably needs to be more serious.

Over all, it was a good laugh for me and them.

Today I was asked on a date by a guy who recited an entire Dr. Seuss book to me. That's... impressive! Right? STOP SAYING RIGHT! Sorry.... I just have to check with you and stuff, and yeah... so.

Yep. Date tomorrow night. Rock climbing! It oughta be good!

Now today I'm supposed to talk about what's in my purse.

1 - My super fantastic wallet. Isn't it beautiful? I love it. Yes.

2 - My keys. One key to my house, one key to my bedroom, and a billion key chains.

3 - A pair of glasses. Either these fake glasses, my real glasses, or sunglasses. But some form of glasses are always in my purse.

4 - These pens. Sharpie pens. Am I obsessive or something? These are the only pens I can use! IT'S INSANITY!!! They really are the best though. If you send me some of these, I'll love you forever. I mean... forever.

5 - Chapstick. Right now I've been going through a Fanta chapstick craze. Usually it's Dr. Pepper chapstick, but these days I'm diggin the strawberry and grape Fanta!

6 - Lip gloss. You know those moods where you're feeling flirtay-sassay and plain chapstick won't do? That's what lip gloss is for. It helps if it's minty and tingly too, that's why the vanilla mint is my favorite kind. Also because it says this on the back.

That's right fellas. Pucker up.

7- My MP3 player. It's not an iPod... I'm not that cool... I'm cooler! It's a Sansa. And it thinks it's hilarious to randomly turn off, and then reset everything when I turn it back on. I need something new... any suggestions?

8 - This mini car. I don't know what it is about this car... but it was sitting on my shelves for the longest time, and I just recently decided it belongs with me. Always. So now I carry it around. And play with it on top of my computer or text books when I'm bored.

9 - My phone!

There you go. Now you know way too much about me. Keep secret, or I will send an assassin after you. As I will.

Of Great Importance

Heyyyyy guys! Face planted it today! Actually I didn't actually land on my face.... but that's because my hands were covering it. Good thing for reflexes. Yay for being graceful! On a scooter! On a crack-ie-ish sidewalk!

It's kinda exhilarating.  Like looking at a week you have a billion mid term papers due, and something like five thousand exams.... you know it's gonna hurt. It's gonna hurt bad. And then you slam through it, and guess what! You were RIGHT! It DID hurt! But when you're done, and you realize you're still breathing, it's AWESOME!

I'm a dare devil.

So... you may notice that my blog looks different. See check it. The banner is new and stuff. And I'm kinda wanting to get this new... improving the world in little ways type-thing going, that involves all of you! So look forward to that. And tell me what you think of the new look.

Do it.

Right. Why do I start a lot of what I say with the word "right?"  Let's get jumping into today's challenge.

Day Today:

Post a picture of something that means a lot to you.

Yah I took that picture myself! (**Side note** There is a difference between Yeah and Yah. They sound different when you say them.)

I didn't really have a marker I could use, so I used eye-liner. I never use the stuff anyways... and it was a really cheap stick I had. So it's justifiable. And it looks 'ight.

The piano is of great importance to me. Music in general is. Once upon a time, my grandparents bought my family a piano. I would sit at that thing and just go at it. It was, and still is, magical that noise came from just a simple push of a button. Not just noise, music. It was beautiful to me. I was promptly signed up for lessons, and I took them until I moved away from home. A total of about 14 years.

There were times where I hated piano, and I wanted nothing more than to get off that bench and finish my practice time...

But looking back, some of my favorite memories were formed around a piano.

Listening to my daddy play this song... I don't know what it's called. But I could sing it for you.

Laughing my head off at the huge sneeze my brother made during a recital, and my teacher glaring at us to be quiet.

Talent shows in Elementary School.

Watching Rhapsody in Blue performed live during my final concert in the WSU Wind Ensemble.

Performing on my first Steinway ever for the Jr. Miss pageant.

Sitting next to Josh on one of our last dates together, playing the piano together.

Practicing on my Grandparents rickety old piano as my little cousin sat next to me and watched me.

Playing Clair De Lune for my Grandpa.

Playing the Organ for the first time.

Making up songs, and feeling ok, because they were terrible, but no one was around to hear it but me.

Finding pianos in secret places and playing secretly secret songs. In secret.

Playing the piano at farewell parties for friends going on missions. Knowing it was goodbye for a long time... but not forever!

Playing the piano for parents with special needs children while they ate dinner, and got a much deserved break from their days.

I would sit at that piano, and practice when it snowed and I wanted to build a fort... and practice when it rained and I wanted to dance in it... and practice when the sun shone and I wanted to lie in the grass.

I would practice the piano when friends wanted me to come play, but I had to play my songs.

I would practice when chapters of my life closed, and I was sad, but the music took me somewhere else for a while.

I would practice when friends came and friends left, when dinner was ready and when the dishes were done. I would practice when the house was full of people, and when the house was empty.

I spent a lot of my life at a piano, practicing, performing... playing.

Looking back, it was all play. Not a moment was wasted.

About:Blank

Tuesdays! I love Tuesdays. They're the coolest kids on the block of week days. Sorry elitist weekend.... you got shafted. Tuesdays are movin on up!

Right. Today I'm supposed to talk about 15 things about me.

Cool! Let's see how much I know about myself!

1- I have a wicked sweet tooth, especially if it involves peanut butter and chocolate mixed together. Or cereal.

2- It's hard for me to leave the house without sunglasses.

3- This is the only car I own.

It's smaller in real life. But don't tell it that... it thinks it's a big car. It came out of a German chocolate egg.

But I DO own a scooter!

4 - I love John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Jon Schmidt, Michael Buble... yeah all those cool people.

5 - I have the body build of a dancer, but I am the most clumsy person alive.

Oh my laws... 10 more?! TEN MORE???!!!

6- I only drink milk if it has chocolate in it.

7- I dress pretty boring on week days, but on Sunday I wear crazy clothes

9- I still sleep with a teddy bear

10- Even though it looks like I own a fish, I don't. I used to own a few plants. They died. I want to own a bunny. Because a bunny is more likely to remind me that it has flies surrounding it and it smells like death. Plants don't.

11- I have issues with my bangs. I'm trying to retrain them.

12 - I sometimes pretend that I'm a car, and that everyone around me is a car, and I don't want to run into them. It's a lot more fun when you're on a scooter.

13 - My eyes are perfectly normal, and not at all cross-eyed or whatever it looks like in the above picture.

14 - I have issues with clothes.

15 - I think I'm addicted to chap-stick.

Help.

There you have 15 things about me.

Today, while rolling out of the OSH building on my scooter, I over heard a conversation that someone was gonna video tape me on the scooter some day and post it on youtube. And I'd be famous.

Not even kidding. I know they were talking about me because they said "That girl on the scooter in the grey hoodie with the flower on her hat"

I swear, I looked around, and no one looked like that. Except me. And you can't really 'look around' at yourself.

I'm gonna be famous. Stay tuned.

Letter of Discontent

Had a great day planned, and it went pretty well! Except for one thing.

Started out great, shopping with my family and my awesomest cousin (HI! HI ERIN!!! ERIN! HI!)

But when lunch time rolled around, it went down hill. We went out to this pizza place.... and man.

Ok. FIRST the waitress went and told us that the kitchen was running slow, and she offered us free salad bar.

THEN they brought around breadsticks, and if you've ever been to that one pizza place, you know what I'm talking about. Their breadsticks are crazy. By the time our pizza came, we were 20lbs heavier. Each. It wasn't like the food was bad... it was just like it was dead set on making our stomachs exploding before we left.

We finally choked down the last bit of food, as the buttons burst off of our shirts, when the waitress came by and  had the audacity to remind us that the food we ordered came with a giant ice cream Sunday.

So now I'm sitting back in Salt Lake staring unhappily at my stomach.

Today I'm supposed to write a letter to someone who's hurt me recently.

Dear Stomach,

I know we don't get along, and I make fun of you a lot, but really, when you act like this you deserve it. I do not like being treated like this. We had a deal where I can eat as much as I want, but you're not allowed to grow at all, and you can't make me regret every single thing I eat.

You really hurt my feelings and my self esteem. I want to be friends, I really do... but it looks like we need a break.

You're grounded.

No food until next Wednesday.

Love, Lara.

In other news, I'm back in SLC! And my retainer sits happily on my upper jaw.

The Waffle that Wasn't

Ok... the waffle WAS but... a really great story didn't come out of this morning. So far this doesn't make sense, here. I'll explain.

This morning I woke up and had a waffle. I dripped batter on the floor or something, and stepped in it with my socks on... gross ew ew ew! I can't stand stepping in gross things with socks on. If I'm barefoot, that's fine. But with socks on, it's a nasty factor to a whole new level.

So I stepped in the stuff, and peeled off my sock, and then went to clean up the rest of the batter. En route, I stepped in the waffle batter again with my bare foot and almost broke my ankle. If I hadn't been taking calcium vitamins, I probably would have broken my ankle.

I think the waffle batter was trying to kill me, but I might just be paranoid. That's a long shot...

Headed to a winter indoor drum line competition going on at my high school. Got to see some cool people! All my Ogden buddies, and a some Utah buddies too. But honestly, it stressed me out. Everyone panics over every little thing. EVERYONE. Just need to take a chill pill or something, like seriously, right? OMG fer-real.

I'm watching ghost hunting shows right now.... Uh... I guess I won't share my opinion on the matter. But let's just say my face is in a silly position the entire time.

Also I feel a little like eating my hand, because I left my retainer in SLC and it kinda sorta feels like my teeth are moving.... I promise it's not in my head.

Right, so today I'm supposed to talk about the meaning behind my blog name. I've kinda done it before, but I'll tell you again in case you didn't catch it the first time.

I started the blog when I was kinda starting a new chapter of my life, I had graduated high school, and I was moving on to college and moving away from home, meeting new people and trying all sorts of new things. It's a big part of life! And pretty much all of it is new to me. I think that's how it's going to be for the rest of my life now.

And I'm exploring it all and documenting it. A lot like my good friends Lewis and Clark. Just kidding, not at all like them, and they're not really my friends. But hey. It made for a cool URL.

Today's post was kinda boring. Sorry guys... what do you want from  me?! TELL ME!

As you will, of course.

2.18.2011

Day Whatever

I can live in Salt Lake forever, but for some reason, Ogden will always feel like home to me. I'm the most Ogden-pride person you'll ever meet. I love this town. I love this area of the world. It's wonderful and fantastic!

Day whatever (what day is it? Friday? Ok...) Post a picture of yourself.

I dunno... that's way out there. I never post pictures of myself...

I've got a serious addiction... to vitamins. And Vitamin String Quartet. I'm not joking you guys, you've really got to look them up.

I really like my boyfriend style AE jeans (my brother says no self respecting boy would ever wear them...) The problem is they stretch out bad. Have you ever noticed how much jeans stretch out? So I have to wash them like... all the time. ALL the time. Even when I don't wear them, I have to wash them.

So I was putting my jeans through the wash because I really wanted to have them with me when I came back to Ogden for the weekend. They got done, and I checked the train schedule and realized I could catch the train like NOW! So I ran so fast... usually it takes me 5-7 minutes to get from my house to the Trax station, but this time it took me 2 minutes. I may or may not have jay-walked 5th south.

But in doing so, I noticed something. When I run really fast, or exercise really hard in general without warming up properly, my mouth gets really slimy and I lose the ability to spit decent distances.

I told my mom about this, and she laughed. I told my sister, and she said the same thing happens to her.

Is it just genetics? Does this happen to anyone else?

I left my tongue brush at home this weekend... I feel lonely.

Now you know more about my mouth than most people! Consider yourself lucky!

2.17.2011

Cravings

Hey guys. Time for the challenge and stuff I guess.

First I'll tell you stuff. Holy healthy cow... I've gotta hurry! Not much time!

The poll on the side bar is closed! Let's see how we did?

12 people wanted my blog's body. They thought it was smokin hot.
3 people thought it was ugly.
3 people liked the old one better.

So.... 66 percent satisfied, and 33 percent not. Hmmm... I'm fine with those odds. Maybe I'll fix something later.

What would YOU like to see on this blog?

I have to read a sample of my writing in writing class next Thursday, I'm thinking about my swimming essay. What do you think?

Hrmmm... Oh. I'd like to publicly apologize to the snow. I was really rude to it, but it's not that bad, really. It's sunny. And the snow makes everything look bright! I love that!

Alright. I'm supposed to talk about something I'm craving. And anyone who's been around me this week knows that it's sweet pork.

Saturday I cooked up a pot of the stuff, and I've eaten it every day since then. I guess I don't crave it anymore, but I really did then.

I also crave sugar a lot lately. Which isn't a problem usually, since we don't have sugar around our house, so I'm not tempted to sink into a sugar coma.

But we do have sugar around our house now.

Lots.

This is my getup today....

Aaaaand that's all I'm wearing.

Nah, I've got a polka dot apron and crazy pj shorts with a white shirt on too.

That's really important for you to know. Not sure why. But whatevs.

Yeah so I've gotta wrap this up now! Headed to do ZUMBA with my Gamma gurlz! Kay?! LOL OMGOSH ROFL! BYE!

2.16.2011

Tornadocane in Yewtah.

Oh. Em. Gosh you guys.

It's a tornadocane out there. You know it's windy when you're trying to ride your scooter down hill, but for some reason you're moving uphill... backwards.

You know it's windy when you can get all the way home on your scooter without even having to kick once.

I'm not gonna argue! I only get mad at the wind when it's cold. And it's not cold!

But I am gonna blame the tornadocane for the mess that fell out of my closet today.... It's so windy that all my clothes ended up on the floor!

First, put your hands in the air and celebrate! Because yesterday, my blog was found on google TWICE because people searched the word 'barefoot'. This rocks. This rocks to the sauciest of sauces.

If you aren't sure what I'm talking about... let's just say that's some saucy sauce.

Alright. For some reason, I do desperate things for food when I'm watching The Biggest Loser.

Last week (two weeks ago? Who knows these days... time is flying...) I ate mac-n-cheese right out of the pot with a wooden spoon. I was too lazy to do anything else to it.

This week, I stuck my tub of cookie dough in front of the space heater on HIGH to defrost it.

And then made a giant cookie.

And I ate that cookie and chuckled every time they talked about getting a 'huge weight' off of their shoulders.

I'm sorry... I'm mean.

Another reason I'm mean...

Ok some background first. I'm not the judgmental stereotypical type, only lame stupid blondes are like that. (Joking...) but today I witnessed something that I'd classify as stereotypical.

I probably would have ignored it, but I almost got killed by it.

I'm riding my scooter on my way to dance class, crossing 13th South. When I almost got hit by a car.

With an Asian driver.

Who made a right turn.

{Waaaaaaiiiiittttt for it. This is where it gets good.}

From the left turn lane.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to judge. But I can't help it in this situation.

In dance we performed our group modern dance for the entire class.

Aren't we cute?!

Today I'm supposed to post a picture of my family.

I love my family. So much. They are the best people in the world.

I guarantee that everyone in this picture is thinking about lentils. Except my mom. And my brother. I think my sister is... but with that face... who knows. My dad wanted to do some more serious pictures, where no one smiles, but we were laughing really hard this entire time, so we had to think of a word that made us frown. My dad said something about sad puppies or something, but we were so juiced up we couldn't keep a straight face. So my brother out of the blue said "Lentils..." in the saddest voice possible.

It was hilarious, but it got the trick done.

I'll tell you each a random something about each person.

Brian (my brother): He's my best friend, for real. We can have entire conversations in silence. Not everyone is as lucky to have a brother like I do. He comes to me for dating advice.

Daddy (my Dad): He is the smartest person I know. I love talking about everything with my Daddy!

Momma (my Momma): I want to be just like my Mom. She has so many talents, and she's the nicest person I know.

Becca (my sister): She and I have the funnest of times. Becca is good at everything she picks up. I love my little sister.

I'm excited to go back to Ogden for the weekend!

What are your families like?

Fan-Girled

Alright guys! Day 16! The downhill slope now, and then it's free for all! I can blog about whatever I want!

First I'll tell you some not challenge things, just to get us started, how does that sound? Guys? Guys??? How does that sound? Why aren't you answering me? Hello?

Valentines day carried over onto... why, TODAY! It was fantastic. It was a beautiful day, once again, and my Tuesday schedule is beautiful and lovely, and pertaining to wonderful. I got a Valentines lolly pop today! It was HUGE! So I've got this giant lolly pop in my hand, and I'm riding around campus on my matching red scooter. It was a good day.

Then we wrote love poems in my writing class, in spirit of the holiday. It was good times. If you want to read mine, it's posted down below. It's actually not too lovey.... I was feeling clever and snide and stuff.

Oh. Also. On my way out this morning, when locking the door, I noticed that we had received a heart attack last night. From none other than the Beibs.

He isn't very lavish with his heart-giving-ness or whatever... I mean... 4 hearts? But I'm not gonna argue. He left us candy. And his signature. And his face.

Justin Beiber has gone fan-girl for me.

Ok! Today. I'm supposed to talk about my favorite celebrity.

You know, I do that a lot.

Today my celebrity crush is not Justin Beiber. It's not an old man who was smooth with his words.

It is the incredibly attractive

Julian Smith

First off, he's not exactly ugly, right?! This picture is full of mystery and intensity. But then look... look at what he's pointing to.

A missing button.

Ladies and (no gentlemen Lara... accept this fact...)

Julian Smith is a genius when it comes to comedy. Plain and simple. He is a youtube sensation.

25 Things I Hate About Facebook? Jellyfish? All him. ALL him. I highly encourage you to check out his youtube channel

He is hilarious. So. Julian Smith is my celebrity crush.

So yeah, this is my favorite video of his right now. But really, they're all awesome.

So here you go!

I MADE THIS BLOG POST FOR YOU!!!!

Oh. And here's my poem.

Shall I compare thee to a Winter’s Night?
You can’t get any cooler.
You’re tall dark and handsome, but stop thinking you’re right.
Stop thinking that you can fool her.
Shall I compare thee to a Summer’s Day?
You just string her along.
You’re hot but you’re flighty, and to her dismay,
She doesn’t feel like she belongs.
Shall I compare thee to a morning in May?
With sunshine, and the grass so cool.
She gets excited for what’s coming that day,
Then realizes that it is just school.
Shall I compare thee to the last day of Fall
She knows the end of the season is near.
You gave her but nothing, while she gave it her all.
And you walk away, while she stands in tears.
Shall I compare thee to a bleak afternoon…
You realize you lost her all too soon.

The Bare Necessities

Do people on Extreme Home Makeover ever get tired of that guy yelling? Because I know I do, and I'm not even standing right next to him.

Or am I...?

Today I'm supposed to talk about things that I can't leave the house without. But I thought that was kinda boring, so I decided to pretend like I'm on America's Next Top Model instead.

I have discovered the ultimate place to take pictures in my house. Because that chair is bad apples.

#1 thing I need. Chapstick. Not any kind of chapstick, Dr. Pepper chapstick.

But sometimes you have 'those days' where you can't find your Dr. Pepper chapstick. So I settle for my Diet Cherry Coke chapstick. I'm  not sure how or why chapstick is diet.... but whatever.

#2 is my phone! I don't text, well... I do... but I tend to avoid it. I don't even use my phone when I'm at school, other than checking the time, but for some reason I feel really naked without it.

The reason I don't text is because one time I was coming home from a weekend in Ogden, and when we were getting all of my stuff put into the house, my phone fell beneath the tire of the car, and it got ran over. The outside sustained minimal damage, a few scratches, but the inside LED screen cracked. So about... a quarter of it is no longer functioning. Actually... It is functioning. You just can't see anything in that corner.

And the disease is spreading. It's more like 4/9ths of the screen is broken now. But I manage pretty well with it! The only problem is I like to say "neat" a lot, but predictive assumes I'm trying to say "meat". If you knew the number of messages I sent that said "MEAT!" You'd laugh.

Happy Day of Love! Valentines! If you are single today, take comfort in this quote
"Being single on Valentines is like being Jewish on Christmas and Santa flips you off."

And if you aren't single, congrats! Today is a marvelous day all around, don't let anything get you down.

I didn't meat to rhyme.

My Vice {Not the President kind...}

Look at me. Soft shiny hair.... the ability to cook... small feet... doesn't bite her fingernails.... can type really fast.... good at cleaning things.... I'm everything a guy would want, right? I'm perfect!

Take note of the heavy sarcasm, please.

Ladies and Gentlemen! (I've gotta get used to the fact that no men read this blog... fix that readers, would yeh?)

I.

Have.

A.

Vice.

No. It is not the bits of chocolate inside cookie dough. No. It is not bunnies. No. It is not sharpie pens. No. It is not a toothbrush.

Actually it is all of those things BUT! My greatest vice....

Television.

What is my problem!? It really is a problem. Really. Actually... no it's not too much of a problem. I only watch things I like... some people sit around and stare at the television, willing something entertaining to come on... so no it's not a huge problem, but I do realize my time could be better spent elsewhere.

Maybe when my shows are over I'll have a TV free month. When school is out!

I need my stories to get me through school... don't judge.

Today I'm supposed to talk about my favourite TV show. {Heh... I'm British now. Get some lemonade.}

This is hard for me. There is my guilty pleasure... and then there is the one show that is really truly worth watching.

Guilty pleasure? The Bachelor. There. I said it. Judge me. Judge me all over. DO IT. I deserve it. I'm sorry. I could talk about that show... but that's no fun. People watch that show anyways. You know what's going on... Michelle is a tramp, Emily's story is sad, and we all know he should have gotten rid of the other Ashley.

But no. I'm going to talk about a show that is amazing. It is seriously the best television show I have ever seen.

Dang it... I had to go and whip out that gun. Because I thought of another one.

Ok I'll mention both.

First!

FRINGE.

This is a science fiction type show. It's kinda like X-Files. But so so so much better. It's based around a department called Fringe Sciences. Basically.... sciences on the fringe. Weird stuff. Supernatural. And they solve cases from there.

But wow. The plots that they have running underneath are amazing.

I'll give you a quick run down.

Walter, the best actor to grace this world. He is the mad scientist. The brains behind it all. He's also a bit insane, but in the best way possible. He says the most hilarious things. All in a German accent. An old man German accent!

Walter had a son, Peter. When Peter was 3, he passed away. Walter crossed over into an alternate reality and stole the Peter from that side. There's more that goes into this, but let's just say it isn't as bad as it looks. Walter did the right thing by stealing Peter. He struggles every day with the guilt, though.

Ahhh anyways. You're just going to have to watch the show. The underlying plot that they have, the emotion that the actors portray, and the relationships they have with each other are amazing. I also love that the actors are nothing to drool over. I mean... Peter isn't ugly... but all of them, every one! No one looks like a super model wearing a billion pounds of makeup. They look like real people.

So. There's the first best show ever made.

Second

Arrested Development

This show ran for three glorious seasons before it was canceled. It didn't catch on. Unfortunately... now it has. It's pretty much reached cult status. It's one of those shows that you watch, and you remember it weeks later, and randomly things will you remind you of it, and you find yourself smiling walking everywhere, and randomly laughing.

This show was hilarious in every way possible. It's impossible to describe exactly how funny it is.

It's a story of a rich family that lost everything due to the father being blamed for treason and embezzlement. There's a selfish greedy mother. There's a son, who though he is a grown man, acts a lot like a child. Oh and his hand was bitten off by a loose seal. There's a son who's a magician. There's a narrator who is almost more hilarious than the actors themselves. There's every person you can think of. I love this show more than any other comedy in the world!

That's saying a lot! I love British comedy! But yeah! Arrested Development beat that out!

I have to share some quotes....

Michael: Are you serious?!
Wayne Jarvis: Almost always. I was once voted the worst audience participant Cirque Du Soliel ever had.

Maebe: Do you know where I can get one of those gold T-shaped necklaces?
Michael: That's a cross.....
Maebe: Across from where?

Gob: Steve Holt's not my son
Michael: Steve Holt? What, the moron jock?
Gob: That's my son you pothead!

Tobias: Ok Lindsay, you are forgetting that I was a professional twice over. An analyst and a therapist. The world's first analrapist.

Michael: I think the reason you and I always fight is that ever since we were little, Dad always played us off against each other.
Gob: Dad said that was your fault...

Tobias: So what are your plans for the evening?
Bob Loblaw: I thought I'd stay in and work on my blog.
Tobias: Ah yes, "Bob Loblaw's Law Blog."

Ahhh... you see what I mean?

Best.

Gob, George Sr., Lindsay, Tobias, Michael, Lucile, George Michael, Maebe, Buster

Well there you go fellas. The best shows.

Ever.

The Music In Me!

First. Everyone. Freak out. A little.

Who am I kidding.

Freak out a lot.

Because....

DRUM CORPS IS COMING TO THE RICE-ECCLES STADIUM ON JULY 6TH!!!!

And I'm going to be in town! I've NEVER been in town for Corps Encore!

Blue Devils will be there... of course.... and PHANTOM! I love Phantom Regiment. Almost as much as The Cavaliers.

Alright. Today I've been instructed to blog about my favorite musician. And why.

That's a really hard one, and frankly... perhaps a little unfair. How am I supposed to pick one? A single favorite? Gracious!

I have a lot of music on my MP3 player. I like listening to it on shuffle, because otherwise I'm afraid I'll listen to the same stuff over and over and become a zombie. So depending on my mood, I skip certain songs and listen to other certain songs.

I love Owl City, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Abba, T-Swift, all those guys... but they have their days where I just don't want to listen to them.

So I press skip.

But there is one artist I always want to listen to, I never skip her songs.

Regina Spektor!

Her style of singing is perfect. I wish I could sing like her! Her songs are so light and easy to listen to. There are happy songs like Raindrops, and sad songs like Buildings.

I recently stumbled upon Buildings this last month. It's one of my favorite songs.

A lot of her lyrics are really weird... like... really weird. Dance Anthem of the 80s? Really weird! But it's interesting to listen to her songs and wonder what the meaning is behind her lyrics.

Of course, some of her songs are just weird because she was high when she wrote them... but still. Doesn't mean you can't assign meaning to them.

Favorite of all time?

Fidelity

It won't let me upload the music video for it...(!!!) so click on the link.

I love this song, it's my text-tone!

Alright. Well...

I made sweet pork burritos today. Oh my gosh. I didn't know I could cook so well.

I may not be Bobby Flay... but I will be.

Soon.

The Great Salt Lake {City}

I don't know... I challenged myself. I told myself I would do this blog challenge. And starting out, it was alright. Granted, every now and then I'd run into a post that was just... what? Why would someone blog about this? Kinda boring! Right? But now it's getting to a point where I think we'd be better served were I to blog about whatever.

So here goes. Just gonna do this challenge junk real quick...

I guess I can turn this into something cool.

Post a picture of where you live! Ladies and Gentlemen (Wait... like no guys read this blog...)

This is where I live. Salt Lake City, Utah. I love it. Even though I complain about it here and there and sometimes everywhere, I really do love it.

I used to love the big town, growing up.... the big town was awesome. Granted... Salt Lake isn't that big... but for Utah it's pretty big.

But when I moved here... I guess I just got bored with it. Really fast. I've grown a deep appreciation for the gentle rural areas. But Salt Lake does have it's great things.

Temple Square!

The Gateway. I love the gateway.

The Smiths I go shopping at.

A kick-a football team. GO UTES!

Lambda Delta Sigma, especially the Gamma chapter {hearts!!!}

The best marching band in the state of Utah. That's right. I went there. I bought property.

And most of all, the people. I have made some really amazing friends here. We don't see each other often because we all have school and work and studying and junk like that.... but really truly, I have met some of the best people down here. And I love every minute of it.

So Salt Lake? You're ok in my book....

You're ok in my book.

Has anyone noticed that 'ok' isn't a word according to spell check? This feels awkward now.

Made of Up

I've got some cookies in the oven! Three of em! THEY'RE HUGE! So excited.... I think I'll put some candles on them and sing quietly to myself.

Tahday I'm supposed to talk about what's in my makeup bag. Well... I only use the minimum when it comes to makeup. I'm not comfortable wearing very much. So! While I do actually have a lot of makeup... some of the stuff I haven't worn in years, and it's probably expired. Actually one of the colors I've had since middle school.... I think it's staring at me.

When did it grow eyes?!

So. To start off. Eyelash curler. Standard edition. For a hilarious game, ask guys what they think eyelash curlers are. And any make up for that matter. It's good fun.

Second, I've got a dark raisin purpley color liquid eyeliner. I put it on in such a manner that you can't even see that I'm really wearing it. It just makes my eyelashes more defined.

Third I've got some Mary Kay vanilla Eyesicles. I love this stuff. It's just sparkley, and lights up your eyes, without shouting "HEY! I'VE GOT STUFF ON MY EYELIDS!"

Fourth, Cover Girl Exact Eyelights mascara for brown eyes. Oh my laws, this stuff is marvelous. It really brings out the color in my eye. And I'm not even trying to advertise or anything, it just really actually does that! Favorite. If you're looking for mascara, get this.

Last, and favorite. Dr. Pepper chapstick. Duh.

For your entertainment, a slightly creepy picture of my applying mascara. If you think I'm about to jump out of the computer screen and attack/sing to/eat you... I am. So... just a heads up.

Today I rolled into class on my scooter, and my classmate said "Lara... you're so cool. I wish I could ride into a class on a scooter looking so suave."

Felt pretty good.... after running into a crack on the sidewalk and almost flipping over my handlebars. I'm pretty suave.

I need to eat these cookies... so.... yeah. I'll see you later! Read my blog as you will.

Do it.

It's a command.

Or... an invitation.

Look at it as you will.

Oh my heck I didn't even mean to end this with 'as you will.'

Kitchen Nightmare

I should win the title for being THEEEE Kitchen Nightmare. I ruin everything.

I had some chicken. I had some lime. And I made the best recipe ever. To check out the recipe, look at the bottom of this post. It was one of my most favorite foods I've made.

But the thing is.... when I turned the chicken over in its pan, the oil splashed out.

And coated my hand.

So now my thumb is about the same temperature as the sun.

Just kidding! It's actually hotter than the temperature of the sun. It's probably the worse burn I've ever gotten. And it stings. That pun is completely intended.

Looking back, I realized that isn't a pun at all. I have no idea what I was thinking... maybe I burned my brain too.

I'm supposed to blog today about my favorite place to eat. That's my kitchen. Or my mom's kitchen. Or my friend's kitchen. Or my grandparent's kitchen. It doesn't even have to be the kitchen... could be a dining room! I don't like eating out.... It's not that I don't like the food, just the atmosphere is stressful. But if I'm with people I really love, that's fine :)

So. Recipe for disaster! Just kidding. Recipe for lime chicken.

Ingredients:
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp parsley
1/4 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder or 1 minced garlic clove
black pepper to taste
1 chicken breast
2 tbs butter
1 tbs oil
1 lime
1 aloe vera leaf

Mix all of the dry spices, including the pepper, together. So you've just got this dry powder mix, right? If you decided to use a garlic clove, wait to put it on until you put on the lime stuff. Take the chicken and coat it in the spice stuff. Just cake it on. The more, the better.
Heat up oil in butter in a pan, and toss the chicken right on in! As the chicken cooks, grate some lime peel on there. And then cut the lime in half. Juice half of the lime over the top of the still cooking chicken,  and slice the other half of the lime, placing the slices on top of the chicken.
When you flip the chicken over, keep the limes on the same side, so that the limes are getting cooked too. This softens the lime stuff and makes a really nice paste to spread over the top when you're done.
Also, when you flip the chicken, make sure you splash boiling oil all over your hand. Then wrap an aloe leaf around your hand.
Cook as long as you want! I really like my chicken blackened... that's how I cooked it. It was SO good. Just scrape out the inside of the limes and spread it over the top.

It's spicy with a zest of lime. It rocks.
It also burns your hand real bad.

Be careful as you will!

Black is Classy

I woke up one day and thought "Hey! I wanna wear black, fool!" Because I naturally end all of my sentences with 'fool' in the early stages of waking, and because I complete my words. Holler. Fool.

So I got into my drawer. I found a black tank top. And another more modest black tank top. And a black camisole. And a few black socks. And a pair of black pants.

FINALLY! I found a black shirt. The problem was.... in my youth, it was well loved. So the black was more of a brown color. This bummed me to the outest of outs. It had been stretched all funny, and just didn't look good any more.

So. I needed a black shirt. I went to Smith's!

My Smith's Grocer is amazing. There is an ENTIRE elevator in there! Actually two! As well as an up and down escalator! DUDE! It is awesome. The top floor contains things like.... housing supplies, sheets, that kind of stuff, as well as a plethora of gardening supplies, and an electronic department. The basement is where all the food is. But MY favorite place is the south end of the top floor. Particularly the south east side, because I love me some jewelry counters.... but the rest of the south end is cool too.

Clothing department.

I searched high and low for a black shirt to wear, but they were all pretty ugly. Well, on me at least. But a small voice inside said "Don't give up hope! Go look in the athletic department!" So I did. And I found this little treasure.

That's my buddy Candice! Shout out to Candice!!! But that shirt, the black one. I love it. It's so soft.... so comfy.... So I purchased that.

The reason I'm telling you this is because that's what I'm supposed to talk about today.

But other things to talk about....

I'm pretty sure my landlord likes to play a game called "Throw the Modem at the Wall". Because my internet all the sudden is like "Lawl. I'm not gonna connect. I'm gonna make it hard for you to do any work on the computer. AT ALL! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Holler."

Drives me crazy...

Other reasons I should own a bunny.

Bunnies are naturally protective of themselves. These poor innocent sweet creatures have been on the bottom of the food chain for ages. It is up to me to own a bunny to protect it from being eaten. There are no dogs at my house. And I will kick any dog that even comes within a block of my house...

Luckily there are no sidewalks in the front of my house. So no person would walk their dog right in front of my house. So no dog would be tempted to eat my poor bunny.

Also. Bunnies can be trained to respond to their name. And do tricks. And be potty trained. I would teach my bunny to be a respectable member of society.

And sooOOOooooOOOoooo cute!

I need a bunny.
